The Salem Dance Ensemble fall concert features a broad array of original work by student choreographers, faculty, and guest artists. This concert will feature the premiere of a new work choreographed by fall choreographer-in-residence Maria LaRossa.

Salem State alumna Maria LaRossa is an active and recognized dance educator, artistic director, choreographer, and performer in Boston's prestigious dance and theatre community. She has performed at Lyric Stage Company, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Greater Boston Stage Company. Maria has had the privilege of working with Mignon Furman (American Academy of Ballet), Gerry McIntyre (Fosse), and serving as a demonstrator for Broadway and Film Choreographer Joey Pizzi. She has studied Chekhov Technique with Scott Fielding of Michael Chekhov Actors Studio as well as Laban Movement under Dr. Jennifer Uhl, Certified Movement Analyst of the Laban Institute. Maria is the artistic director and resident choreographer of the Legacy Dance Company, a nationally recognized preprofessional company of 40 dancers. In addition, Maria is a full-time faculty member at Somerville High School (SHS) after starting a dance and yoga program in 2016, and she serves as the advisor of SHS’ chapter of the National
Honor Society for Dance Arts. She has also led classes at Boston Ballet, Lasell University, and the American College Dance Festival, and she is certified in both Pilates and Yoga. Maria
holds a Master’s in Education in Applied Human Development from Boston University.

Admission to this event is a donation at the door to the Dance Honors Society/American College Dance Festival. All donations will support students' attendance at the American College Dance Festival regional conference March 25-27 at Middlebury College. Registration in advance is encouraged.
